Proverbs 31

Too often as women, we settle for things because we don’t understand our worth. We take how people treat us sometimes, because we feel like it’s normal, or we deserve it. Today, I’m reminded of Proverbs 31. When I look at the description of a virtuous woman, I know that for myself, I don’t always feel as worthy as I am according to God's word. Some days it’s hard to build myself up. Sometimes I feel like the people closest to me tear me down. Sometimes I do feel low, unappreciated and unloved, but I think everyone has moments like that.
The trick is to remember who created us and how valuable we are even in the valley. Verse 10 states, “She is far more precious than jewels.” It’s important to remember that we are priceless, and should be treated as such. “Strength and dignity are her clothing.” I have surprised myself after a storm, when I look back and realize what I made it through. I’m amazed at my own strength. I know that I am made strong in wisdom and grace, and the fear of God, but every day is not easy. My past tries to mess with my mind often. At night, in my dreams, I still see images of painful memories as if it just happened all over again. But, I know how to pray. I know how to go right to the scriptures and get myself together.
A big problem is that, as women we often carry our hearts on our sleeve. I know that I love hard, and fight even harder. I’m not afraid to say what I want, and I need to do a better job of being consistent when it comes to standing up for myself with others. I will no longer allow people to gain access to my personal space who don’t deserve it, and i will no longer allow mt past to make me feel anything less than who I was created to be. We all have to remember that we are fearfully and wonderfully made. If people can’t treat us the way Christ intended, we have the choice to walk away from them. That includes family, friends, or significant others. If a man doesn’t love you the way Christ loves the church, then he doesn’t deserve your love. You are worthy of love, affection, appreciation, time, loyalty, honest, peace and joy. Don’t ever let anyone tell you anything differently.
