As an educator, one of the hardest things to watch is a child giving up on themselves. It just breaks my heart, especially when they give up before really giving their best shot. I know school gets tough and sometimes it certainly can be boring. However, let’s focus on why we need to do our best, even when it gets tough.
“A smooth sea, never made a skilled sailor!” Franklin D. Roosevelt
What does that mean exactly? If everything is going well in your life and in school, then that really doesn’t take much critical thinking does it? If every single day was rainbows and unicorns, what are you really learning? If you never experienced hard times or rough moments, how can you gain skills? When you are able to overcome something difficult, you gain knowledge from that experience. Every trial you face, teaches you a lesson. In those moments, you learn who you really are and how strong you truly are.
Yes, school can definitely be a challenge, but think about the reward in the end. Is this all setting you up for a better future? What do you really want out of life? Do you want to be able to support yourself as an adult? How can you get there without your education? This is why you need to do your best
Here’s the beautiful thing about making the decision to give school 100% and doing the best you can to make sure you are gaining all of the knowledge you need… You put yourself in a position to become whatever it is that you want to become. You want to be a doctor? Go for it! You definitely can make it. An engineer, counselor, lawyer, judge, even the President. You can be all that you desire to be!
With God, hard work, faith, and dedication, all things are possible. Nothing can stop you! Oh, and stop listening to the negativity from people telling you what you can’t do, or won’t become. Keep pushing and doing what you have to do to succeed. You are great! There is purpose on your life! You are destined for greatness!
